Here are the basic
steps in learning the quiz or survey tool in WebCT.
1. Create a category |

Step 1 |
Log onto your course as
designer and add the quiz tool if it is not already there. |

Step 2 |
Click on quiz
tool icon. Be sure you are in the Designer
Options view. |

Step 3 |
Click on the Question
Database hyperlink. |
|
Step 4 |
Click on the Create Category link and then type in the name of the category you
want to add, such as Quiz 1.
Click on the Create button right underneath that section. |

Find the Options: Question heading in the
right-hand column. |

Step 2 |
Drop down the
menu under the “create question” label.
Choose the type of question you want to add and then click on the GO button. |

Step 3 |
You will now see
the screen onto which you will type your question. Give your question a title and type in the
question. Provide the correct answer,
if necessary, by clicking on the box next to it. Every type of question acts a little
differently, so be sure to read the screen carefully to make all necessary
indications. |

Step 4 |
When you are
finished adding questions to the database, click on the Quizzes/Surveys
link. |
Add a Quiz
Step 1 |
In
the right-hand column, click on the Create Quiz link. |

Step 2 |
Enter
the title of your quiz in the dialogue box that appears. |

Step 3 |
Click
on quiz name. It has now become a
hyperlink. |
|
Step 4 |
In
right-hand column, click on the Add Questions link. |
|
Step 5 |
You
will now see the folders that represent the categories you have created. You can add the entire folder by clicking
on the box next to it and then on the Add
Selected link at the bottom of that screen. Alternately, you can pick and
choose which questions to add by opening up the folder and clicking on the
box next to each question you wish to add to the quiz. |

Step 6 |
The
questions you chose will now be added to your quiz and will appear on the
left-hand side of the screen. There
are blank boxes next to each question.
Put the number of points each question is worth in these boxes and
then click on Update Total. |

Step 7 |
The
last step is to set quiz (or survey) options.
On the right-hand side of the screen click on the Edit quiz (survey) settings.

Step 8 |
Set the quiz
options as you want and you’re all done. |
Step 1 |
Click on the
quiz/survey tool icon. |

Step 2 |
Choose Designer
Options. Be sure you are in the Designer
Options view. |

Step 3 |
Find the quiz you
are grading and click on the Submissions
link underneath the quiz title. |

Step 4 |
Click on the
hyperlinked number next to the student’s name. This will open up that student’s quiz and
you’ll be able to grade it. It will
look like this:

Step 5 |
The grader can
override grades as well as grade answers to paragraph questions. |

Step 6 |
Click on Update
Grade. |
