MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Health, Management, Education, or related field from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by U.S. Department of Education.  Degree must be in-hand by hire date.

·         Minimum of two (2) years experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.

·         Four years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist of which at least two (2) years must include clinical respiratory care.

·         ACLS/PALS Instructor Certification. 

·         Registered Respiratory Therapist and licensed in New Mexico and Texas.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Skills in multi-dimensional classroom technology.

·         Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and relate with students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with students, the community college staff, and advisory committees. 

·         Endorsement of the teaching philosophy of the community college which supports a goal of success for all students through active learning experiences and strong faculty involvement. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Prepare and teach courses in Respiratory Therapy Program including theory, lab, and clinical practice.

·         Assist with student recruitment and advisement.

·         Normal work week to include 15 contact hours teaching assignment each semester.  Teaching may include days, evenings, weekends.

·         Responsible for organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students.

·         Maintain office hours according to DACC policy, assist with registration and develop curriculum.

·         Serve on college committees and perform other duties as assigned.
